Three-time MVP Nikola Jokic sustains a 'devastating' knee injury.
Triple National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Jokic endured a "gut-wrenching" knee injury as the Nuggets lost by a score of 147-123 at the Heat.
The star player injured himself in the latter stages of the opening half following an unintentional contact with team-mate Jones.
The other player came down on the footwear of the big man, and he promptly went down to the court holding his knee.
The star, that leads the NBA season in rebounds and assists, posted a score of 21 points and eight assists in the contest before sustaining the injury.
He will have an scan on the following day to determine the severity of the issue.
"Right away, he realized there was a problem," commented Denver coach Adelman.
"This is part of the NBA. Whoever that is injured, it's tough to see, particularly somebody as important as Jokic. We will know more on Tuesday."
"We will continue together. Obviously, currently, I'm more concerned about Jokic as a person and the frustration of experiencing a situation of that nature."
