Reports indicate that fan-favorite stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
A Major Reunion for Fans
The duo will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. Speculation suggests their cameos will probably be featured in a future-set scene, as the main film series concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This represents the sixth film in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.
Exploring the New Story
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a newly published work by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed most of the previous films in the series.
The Plot and New Cast
The film's events are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.
