Donald Trump has warned of involvement in Iran if its authorities use lethal force against demonstrators, prompting warnings from high-ranking figures in Tehran that any involvement from Washington would violate a critical boundary.

In a public declaration on Friday, Trump said that if Iran were to use deadly force against demonstrators, the America would “intervene on their behalf”. He noted, “we are prepared to act,” without explaining what that would involve in reality.

Demonstrations across the nation are now in their second week, marking the biggest in several years. The ongoing protests were catalyzed by an steep fall in the country's money on recently, with its value falling to about a record depreciation, further exacerbating an precarious economic situation.
