Pat Bamford Signs With the Blades Despite Initiating Abusive Songs About Manager Chris Wilder

The striker has joined the Championship side only half a year following instigating derogatory songs directed at the team's coach, Wilder.

The 32-year-old striker, a free agent since leaving Leeds, has put pen to paper on a contract joining the Championship club in difficulty through the winter. His seven-year spell at Elland Road finished through agreement this past summer.

Among Bamford’s final notable acts as a Leeds player included starting abusive chants about Chris Wilder amid Leeds' promotion celebrations in April. Currently, the former England international is set to play for Wilder as the Blades’ manager seeks to rescue the team he loves out of the relegation zone.

Previous Conflict Involving Bamford and Wilder

Both men had previous conflict prior to Leeds won promotion to the Premier League last season and United lost the playoff final to Sunderland. The manager described the forward as “a muppet” when the situation was different in 2018-19 and Sheffield United secured automatic promotion while Leeds United missed out in the playoffs.

Making Amends and Moving Forward

Everything seems to have been forgiven and forgotten with United, the league's least productive attack, in desperate need of improvement in attack while Bamford hoping to revive his career.

The song about Wilder spread widely this spring. An apologetic Patrick and the Leeds manager, Farke, phoned Wilder the following day.

Wilder said at the time: “Spoke with Patrick recently and I’ve no problem whatsoever with that. I’m not sure regarding the words used from a fellow professional! However I appreciated and respected him calling me.

“We had 20 minutes and similarly I spoke to Daniel too and we had a half-hour chat with him and he is a great person, a top guy. Back in my playing days we would give it and take it and that’s part and parcel of football across all levels, even on a Sunday morning. I have no problem at all. I am cool with it and I told him that to Patrick.”

Recent Career Challenges

The forward featured in 18 games for Leeds last season but the ex- Forest, Chelsea FC and Boro striker has struggled with injury in recent years.
