Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.
The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Claims Shared on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.
Player's Prior Legal Issues
Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
