Homages Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
More than two weeks following the shocking loss of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the pair.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt ready to express about his deep grief.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can finally put my grief into words," shared Elwes, saying that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started passing more hours together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the movie, adding that he doesn't recollect "a single day without laughter".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a distinct piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to prevent the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate issued a security hold on the cases to restrict the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" connected to the probe.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a public database noting the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Aftermath and Reactions
In the wake of the tragedy, public individuals shared varying reactions.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, offering divisive statements that were widely condemned by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the critics recently. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan described the statements as "disappointing" and remarked they demonstrated a concerning lack of empathy.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an adviser should have acted when the decision to weigh in on the passing was made.
