Hardline Ex- Congressman José Antonio Kast Chosen as Chile New President.
After a definitive second-round vote, far-right figure José Antonio Kast has won the presidential office in Chile.
A Commanding Win
With more than 99% of votes tallied, Kast secured 58.17% of the ballots, overcoming leftist contender Jeannette Jara, who obtained 41.83%.
This represents Kast's third bid for the presidency, having previously been beaten by the sitting president, Gabriel Boric, in the 2021 second round.
Campaign Focused On Law and Order and Immigration
Noted for his strong socially conservative views and praise for the period of former leader Augusto Pinochet, Kast's platform was mostly built on promises to address increasing violence and radically reduce migration.
