Accused Harasser Questioned: 'Yet What If I Am Madeleine?'
A female indicted with stalking Kate McCann apparently left her a voicemail message which asked: "what if I am Madeleine?"
Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who a jury heard has consistently asserted she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are facing charges accused with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February the current year.
On Monday, the court was told communication data and evidence obtained from phones logged Ms Wandelt consistently requesting Madeleine's mother for a biological test during 2023 and 2024.
Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - at the age of three during a family holiday in Portugal - is considered the most widely reported missing child cases and remains unresolved.
'I Don't Want Money'
One recorded message, presented in court, recorded Ms Wandelt stating: "I know I'm overweight and unattractive like Madeleine had been, but I believe what I believe."
While another instance of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's voicemail said: "Imagine there is a tiny probability that I am Madeleine? What happens next? Isn't that crucial for you?"
"I do not need money, I have a life here in Poland, I only wish to understand," the recording stated.
The tribunal was informed that by means of electronic messages, text messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt requested a biological test, transmitted youth pictures to her phone in a attempt to show a likeness to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and stated to have "recollections" from a early life with the McCanns.
The investigator, a data specialist with law enforcement who compiled the data, informed the court there "didn't appear to be any answers" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt additionally contacted acquaintances of the McCanns, based on the phone records.
On that date, Gerry McCann answered a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "incorrect contact information."
On that occasion Ms Wandelt recorded a recording on Mrs McCann's answerphone stating "I won't give up and I will prove my claim."
The court learned Mrs Spragg struck up a association via internet with Ms Wandelt before joining her on a appearance to the McCanns' residence in that area in that winter.
Phone records revealed Mrs Spragg had communicated via WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to say the media had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she should be treated respectfully in the period leading up to the appearance to the village, Leicestershire, in December 2024.
